Cost of surrogacy in Canada
Get an overview of the costs of your journey
First of all, it is important to emphasize that in Canada surrogacy is structured altruistically. This means that the surrogate may not receive any compensation from the intended parents. Only those costs incurred before, during and after the birth of the child. The idea is that women who wish to carry out surrogacy for others should not bear the costs of the pregnancy themselves. Of course, intended parents need to know what costs they should expect.
The first step, embryo cultivation can look very different depending on the situation of the intended parents. For example, if the intended parents are of the same sex, they will need an egg donation. Or if they are a heterosexual couple who have their own eggs. Furthermore, the intended parents would like to send embryos by courier to Canada or USA for transfer. Here there are very different approaches. The cost of the first step can be very different, depending on the situation.
As mentioned above, a surrogate cannot claim a compensation, but she can ask for reimbursements. Those can be named like this:
Meals
Childcare
Parking
Everything else which is related to the pregnancy
